Plot:

The plot of 1776 so far is just telling the beggining of the Revolutionary War. Why and how the revolution started, and the most important people in it. So far the book has also given some background information on the British and American forces. The British did not understand why the Americans were rebeling so much and the Americans couldn't understand why they were being so greatly taxed. The taxes were the initial beginning to the war. The Americans had a great disadvantage with soldiers, supplies, and experience, but the war was happing in America, a whole ocean away from where Britain held their reinforcments and extra supplies.

By chapter 4 the war was greatly heated up. Both armies won and lost about the same number of battles. No side was ever really in control, until the battle(s) of Saratoga. This was the turning point of the war giving the Americans the upper hand and from there they refused to give it up. Washington and his army drove General Cornwallis all the way to Trenton where they won what seemed to be the final battle. Once Cornwallis realized he was surrounded and the majority of his men were dead that it was over. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, offically stateing America as its own nation. Although there were still more battles lingering through out the colonies the war itself seemed endless because the Brithish would just not give up. It wasnt until 1783 that the Treaty of paris was signed bringing an offical end to the war. Therefore the Americans had outsmarted, outfought, and had completly earned their independence in every aspect.
This is a great Plot explanation 10/10
